Goodbye dear friend,
Daunting task, because I am a new media theorist & artist, and my former site had 4,000 plus files. It was my archeological trail of artwork, writings, technological innovations and personal artistic discovery that spanned over twenty years. While I built sites for clients that were up-to-date, mobile friendly, and savey on the user experience plane, I’d dug my heels in about going “NEW”, but when Google starts sending you hate mail (about your outdated site), well, there just comes a time when you have to pull the plug.
I’m that kind of artist
The central theme of my work is our individual and cultural LOVE-HATE Relationship with Technology. My art practice is about telling complex stories using whatever medium – from the traditional sculpture & paint to the technical of animation, video, and all things web. Yes, I suffered from an identity crisis for a very long time, and then in while completing my MFA in Digital Arts & New Media I came across the term Semionaut, a person who does new things with old tools. My identity crisis should have been over.
Homegrown perspective
Imagine the turbulent 60s & 70s, the race riots across the river signaling an end to inequity, while in my home my dad was developing models for the new modern world that would be sculpted by technologies – and ideologies. My Dad worked for the Human Rights commission and then as *very creative administrator who developed retraining programs designed to train people for the new technological future. This was in Windsor, Ontario, Canada across from Detroit, Michigan, US.
Drop me a line
This a post, but I am an artist and a person, spilling myself out – and in record time. I’d love to meet you.
